Abstract

Now the making of a keris that follows the above tradition slowly begins to diminish, One of the masters that still exists today, and who created the keris by following tradition is Pak Onk (Fathorahman). He came from Palongan village, Bluto sub-district, Sumenep Madura Regency. At the time of making the keris Pak Onk still uses offerings for prayer, as well as fasting and finding a good date to begin the process of making kris, this is what has begun to be rarely found in the making of kris which has a high meaning in the process where the kris must represent someone who orders, whereas at present many of the making of keris that are carried out in a day can reach tens to hundreds of kris, whereas to make a keris made by the master takes 3-7 days to complete one keris, therefore the author wants to make a photo book about keris making which still follows ancient traditions to preserve the culture of traditional art. Then the reason the researchers chose to use descriptive story photography was because the photo story viewers got a more complete picture. Photos not only inspire viewers to empathize and help, but also provide insight. Photo stories are able to convey strong messages, bring feelings of emotion, entertain, and provoke debate. The advantages of photo stories are strong, focused, and creative. The impression that emerges from one story photo is stronger than a single photo because the reader follows the story from opening to closing and gets a deep experience.
