Abstract

Nganjuk Regency is a district in East Java Province. At Nganjuk There is one of the original cultural arts namely Jaranan Dance. Jaranan dance is a traditional dance played by dancers by riding artificial horses made from woven bamboo. This dance tells the story of Klono Sewadono's marriage to Dewi Songgo Langit. In the performance of the Jaranan dance accompanied by various musical instruments such as gamelan, gong, drum, bonang, serumpet. Jaranan dance has a property that is thick with magic and spiritual value. This is related to the belief in the spirits of the ancestors. Jaranan Nganjukan dance is currently only known in the area of Nganjuk City and around the city of Nganjuk. The general public did not understand, because the Jaranan group in Nganjuk city had not yet made a visit outside the area. Meanwhile, people today only learn jaranan dance that uses small horses. At present, the Jaranan dance debate is turning into the competition, which is held only for-profit and dance workers work only for money. Reflecting, the artistic taste of the Jaranan dance will slowly disappear. So, jaranan dance will be considered as a livelihood, not considered a high aesthetic that must be preserved and appreciated. From this problem, it is necessary to design a photography book with descriptive story techniques to introduce Nganjukan cultural art to the community.
