Abstract


Aksara Jawa is one of many cultures in Indonesia that derived from Javanese tribe which until now is still developed and preserved by the society. Aksara Jawa (Javanese character) are characters that represents the sound of the language. Aksara Jawa is a compulsory curriculum of local content education in elementary, middle school or high school. Preservation of Aksara Java will have a better result if it started from a basic level in primary school. In accordance with the KTSP (the curricular unit level education), learning Aksara Jawa starts from 3rd grade of elementary school. Many of the students argue that this subject is difficult. As an efforts to increase the ease of learning Aksara Jawa and become an interesting subject to learn for the 3rd grade of elementary school students, the creation of Aksara Jawa illustration book using digital vector is seen as an suitable method. Research methods that used in this research are qualitative and quantitative i.e. qualitiative by doing interviews, observations, documentations and library studies; hands out questionnaires to obtain quantitative data for the design of Aksara Jawa illustration book. From the analysis of the obtained data then found "Delightful" as keyword. The keyword then applied in the design of illustration book by illustrating something fun in the book.
