Abstract

Currently, the demand of the Internet services is increasing significantly. Thus, it effects the increment of the internet traffic. To overcome this challenge, a Multiprotocol Label Switching technology was proposed. In the development of this technology, MPLS-Traffic Engineering was introduced to equip the previous MPLS technology. Traffic Engineering in MPLS is the process of selecting a data channel traffic to balance the traffic load on the various lines and points on the network and manage network traffic better using alternative paths.

The first step in MPLS-TE research is addressing 4 proxy routers and MPLS-TE configuration. The second stage is the retrieval of data from PC 1 to PC 2. The third stage is a data retrieval using wireshark software. The last stage is the testing and calculation of data to determine the quality of the results of the data obtained for a reference to draw conclusions.

Based on the research results of the implementation and analysis of MPLS-TE on Mikrotik based network by using the parameters of latency (delay), jitter, throughput and packet loss, the results show that the performance of MPLS compared to MPLS TE does not differ significantly.
